This bilingual document is a printed version of the military treaty signed between the newly born Helvetic Republic and France in 1803.

In the aftermath of the Stecklikrieg, Napoleon Bonaparte (then First Consul) acted as a military mediator. The Act of Mediation was produced on February 1803 and created the political state of the Swiss as a Federation.
