Manuscript Letter of Louise Michel to Ernest Vaughan from prison

[ca. 1883-1886]
Following her implication in the Commune, Louise Michel (1830-1905) was emprisoned in several locations, among which the prison of Clermont near Paris, between 1883 and 1886.
In this letter to her friend Ernest Vaughan (1841-1929), administrator of the journal L’Intransigeant, written on the prison’s sheets, Louise Michel tells about a project of book, and writes a poem of her own.
Other manuscripts of Louise Michel are accessible on the International Institute of Social History website and the European Digital Cultural Heritage Gateway.
